The Rustic will throw open the doors in Uptown Park with spaced-out tables, Plexiglass dividers, and plenty of room on the patio
Houston’s second outpost of the Rustic, a sprawling restaurant and concert venue, is set to officially open its doors today.
The restaurant will throw open the doors at 1211 Uptown Park Boulevard on July 8, a slight delay from its original planned debut of February 2020. As previously reported by Eater, this location boasts a sprawling 27,000 square foot space complete with a massive outdoor dining area. It joins the first Houston outpost of the Rustic, which debuted in 2018 in Downtown Houston.
Because it opened during the midst of a pandemic, though, the Rustic in Uptown Park will look a little bit different than its predecessors. According to the Houston Business Journal, tables at the restaurant will be spaced six feet apart from each other, in keeping with Gov. Greg Abbott’s Open Texas guidelines. Plexiglass dividers have been installed between booths, and employees will be required to submit to temperature checks before they’re allowed to begin working, among other safety measures.
And, of course, in keeping with Abbott’s statewide order requiring diners to wear face coverings in restaurants except for when they’re sitting at their tables, the Rustic’s staff will be handing out masks to diners who show up without them.
